Introduction

The first step is to meet with a new client, discuss their project, wishes and budget, and set out an initial brief. This meeting usually takes an hour or two and is free of charge.

From here, we carry out a site survey and review all existing loose furniture and internal layouts, lighting, finishes as well as outside spaces and define a scope of works. This establishes a project budget and what is feasible within that.

Concept Design & Development

A concept design proposal is then put together via a series of sketches, supporting visuals and initial sample materials. Once the concept design is agreed, the studio develops the design with detailed drawings, obtaining costings from suppliers and makers. Where construction is required, HCD will put together technical drawing packages for tender, submitting attendant planning applications and prepare schedules of works for the contractors involved.

Procurement

Once the detail design with final costing is approved, the studio moves into procurement phase. HCD obtains competitive trade prices from suppliers for all goods supplied on the approved design and we pass these benefits onto our clients. Clients will receive an itemised invoice for approval prior to purchasing.

Installation & Handover

HCD undertakes an active on-site design management role throughout the duration of the project to ensure design intent is met. We coordinate all deliveries and installation with our agreed schedule and are on-site during this phase to make sure things run smoothly. Once inspections have been made and any issues resolved, we issue our clients with a handover pack that outlines best maintenance practices.
